SOME EVENTS OF 2004

BIRTHDAYS
5 weeks

On the 22th of March Tumle became a six-year-old.
The left photo is showing him on the 6th anniversary of the first time we saw him, but put the mouse marker over it and look what he was like then, at five weeks of age.

Mummy's thoughtful "pup" Mille turned four on the 7th of June.

REMARKABLE EVENTS

In the beginning of 2004 the beagles suffered a tragic loss when their five-year-old girl-friend Wilma suddenly got ill and was taken into hospital and treated for an intestinal obstruction. She survived the surgery but never fully recovered, so her owners had to make the hard decision to let her be put to sleep.

On the 4th of March our weimaraner friend Savannah got 7 puppies.

On the 17th of April this site mowed into its own domain.

May 23rd and 24th we went for a pleasant weekend in Stockholm. Tumle was visiting his parents and Mille his grandparents. This was the beagles' first trip by train, but there were no problems and all of the hounds seemed to enjoy each other's company.

On May 30th Tumle's and Mille's younger sister Jaffa was giving birth to a litter of 2+4 puppies. Jaffa is Tumle's half sister on her mother's side but with the same father as Mille. This was her first litter.

On the 12th of June we went to the Beagleclub's 40 Years Anniversary Show at Haerjaroe Mansion, north-west of Stockholm.
It turned out to be a nice day when we reunioned with lots of our 2- and 4-legged friends and the weather was not too bad, either. During finals the sun broke through and then we had a beautiful evening.
Tumle met a niece and two nephews for the first time, offspring of his sister Rubella's. They were all a size smaller than he, but you could clearly recognize their relationsship.

On the 25th of June the eleven-year-old beagle lady Cille mowed in with us. She was really incredibly cute, but fat like a little mini pig, so she we had to put her on a strict diet. The diet was successful. During the summer she lost at least 5 kilos of her overweight.

RESULTS

On the 12th of June Mille got a 1st prize in open class in the Beagleclub's 40 Years Anniversary Show at Haerjaroe Mansion. Judge: Mr. David Hiltz from America.

On the 14th of August Cille got a honorary prize and was nominated BOS-veteran in the Swedish Kennel Club's show in Norrkoeping.
Mille participated, too. He got a 1st prize in open class and was nominated 5th best male. In other words, he was the last one, but he behaved himself extremely well, so Mummy was yet very pleased with her boy.

HEALTH

Unhappy beagle deep down in gigantic collar
Cille had "hot spots" and other skin problems which was treated by repeated cures of anti-biotics, without any visible improvement. The vet suspected a bacterial infection and performed a biopsy, but the result turned out to be worse than we could expect. She was suffering from an unusual type of skin cancer, Mycosis Fungoides, which sadly enough is incurable.

Mille had two fits of epilepsy, one during the "heat season" in spring and the other in September. At both occations there were bitches in heat in our neighbourhood, so obviously his condition is triggered by hormones.

Tumle broke off a piece of a tooth. It did not bother him at all, but Mummy felt sad about it - Tumle who always had such nice and tartar-free teeth.

Tumle had repeated problems with his paws, caused by the extremely sharp gravel which (in spite of protests from the dog-owners and bicyclists) is used by our urban district to prevent from slippery roads.

What...is it already a new year!!??
